Into The Upside-Down - Matt Evans, 'The Chai Sessions'
Matt is one of our recent MCY teacher-training graduates and handstand enthusiast! Hand-standing is a puzzle that takes us beyond where we think we can go. We chat all about it here in this Chai Session.

Advice from the yoga room
Coming back to a yoga class in the studio after such a long break, even if you’ve been joining classes online, can feel daunting for lots of different reasons.
Our Mysore style regulars really are all levels from beginners to long time practitioners, and I bet none of them thought, when they came to their first class, that they wouldn’t look back! I asked a few of them what they wish someone had told them before starting and here’s what they had to say…
Injuries, the practice, teaching from experience - Ana Costa, 'The Chai Sessions'
These past few months every time Ana and I get together we end up talking about injuries! In particular, we've been comparing notes on our own shoulder injuries and chatting about how injury has not only changed our practice but also the impact it's had on how we teach yoga postures.

On Coming Back
Returning to the practice, meeting limitations, and the magic of ‘beginners’ mind’
Things are opening up again, and we’re coming back. It’s certainly not quite “back to normal” but even so I often feel like there’s a pressure to be jubilant about returning to many of our old habits and activities, which we don’t always necessarily feel. It’s complicated!
Yoga stories, where it all began, training the new generation - June Mitchell, 'The Chai Sessions'
In this session I'm chatting with June Mitchell. I know for sure that I wouldn't be where I am today without June. She has been practising and teaching yoga since the 1970s and has some amazing stories to share.

Transitioning forward, self care & boundaries - Katie Boyle, 'The Chai Sessions'
In this session I'm chatting with Katie who teaches our Forrest-inspired yoga class on a Saturday morning here at the studio.
Katie and I chat about how we transition forward using the tools of yoga and self care to support us. Practice, whether 5 minutes or 55 minutes, can help us gather our energy and our thoughts. Help us ground ourselves and find steadiness amongst the change.

Finding our way back - Reopening, reconnecting & getting together in person
To be really honest with you, like many people I’m feeling a bit worn down by the effort of navigating the ongoing uncertainty brought about by Covid and feeling so unprepared for each new challenge thrown up by trying to keep a small business going during the challenges of the past year.
Don’t get me wrong, what we’ve managed to accomplish since the world quite literally turned upside down in a matter of days last March is nothing short of AMAZING.
