Yoga for Children - Laura Breckenridge, ‘The Chai Sessions’

Laura Breckenridge joined me for a chat about yoga for children.

If you haven't met Laura, she's a qualified child development officer and has worked in the education sector for many years. She's one of our CYS Glasgow yoga teacher training graduates too!

Laura will be bringing her knowledge and experience of both fields, yoga and education, together to offer a very special workshop here at MCY on November 11th introducing you to teaching yoga to children.

Laura has worked with many children over the years and seen first hand the many benefits of sharing yoga with them. In particular, she has seen how yoga can help children self regulate behaviours and really build their confidence.

Every child is an individual. Laura's approach to teaching yoga to children is not uniform, there is no one way to do it. It's ok if a child wants to watch until they feel comfortable to join in. It's ok, and in fact good practice, to change your class plan to suit the needs and energy of the children in front of you.

Laura shares more on this massive topic in our chat. I hope you enjoy listening in.

Listen below or look for 'The Chai Sessions' on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or Amazon Music. You can also watch our chat on Youtube.

Laura’s Yoga for Children Workshop is coming up on Saturday 11th November, 9.30am - 4pm. During this full day workshop Laura will cover key topics important to teaching yoga for early years, primary children and teens in a workshop which blends education, practical insights and loads of fun. ‘The Chai Sessions’

Anyone who has been to Merchant City Yoga on a Sunday knows how much I love catching up with everyone over a cup of my freshly brewed spiced chai. These Sunday chai sessions really bring everyone together, a true celebration of friendship, community and connection.

I want to try and capture some of that magic and share it with you at home. So I've invited some familiar and new faces from our MCY family to chat with me over a cuppa. I'm affectionately calling them 'The Chai Sessions'.
