Escape to the Country
Since our amazing retreat at EcoYoga Centre last year (when we TOTALLY lucked out with the weather!) I’ve been searching for somewhere luxurious and comfortable, and possibly a bit closer to home, to escape to this year. Somewhere we don’t have to go outside if it’s raining and an amazing spot to sit outside when the sun shines…
Well, I think I’ve found the perfect place!
Eastwood House is a beautifully restored Victorian villa sitting in a stunning location on the banks of the River Tay about half a mile from Dunkeld in Perthshire.
Check it out!!!
It reminds me of the very first yoga retreat I went on – so long ago I can’t even remember when it was! There was about eight of us in a wonderful big house in Stronachlachar by Loch Katrine practicing with authorised Ashtanga teacher Rowena Warren. We’d practice in the morning warmed by a log burning stove, all our food was lovingly hand made in the house by a very talented friend of Rowena and we’d all sit around the dining table to eat. The rooms were lovely and there was more than enough room to spread out, never feeling crowded or busy.
Anyway, when I went to visit Eastwood House, the owners Alex and Cat welcomed me here in the reception hall.
Well, they had me at “Hello”!!!
And it just got better and better…roll top bath anyone???
And look, you can see the river right outside the french doors. I stayed here a few years ago, before the renovations were finished and the weather was so good we sat out there and had breakfast – I could nearly dip my big toe in the Tay!
