Pranayama, Nidra & Mantra with Siobhan Fitzgerald

  • Merchant City Yoga 2nd Floor, 49 Virginia Street Glasgow, Scotland, G1 1TS United Kingdom (map)

In this session you’ll create a stable connection to the self through the breath, deepen your knowledge and understanding of the traditional breathing techniques which make up Pranayama, the 4th limb of Yoga, and so much more.

Siobhan will take you on a journey, a process of layering: opening the lungs and soothing the mind with mantra; cleansing and strengthening the nervous system through preparation exercises; deeper cleansing through Kriya practice followed by appropriate and seasonally supportive traditional breath work practice. At the end you will have time to restore and integrate all the practices with a gentle and affirming Yoga Nidra. Through time, traditional techniques done in this way can be truly transformative.

These practices designed to enhance your wellbeing are delivered in a precise and logical order, so that you feel an increase in energy levels and a decrease in stress (you can feel this immediately!) and enhance many aspects of your life with their long-term benefits.

The intention for this classes is for you to be observed and mentored on a journey which will give you practices to develop each month in order to progress every time you meet. Practices will become deeper over time and Siobhan will assess you using traditional pulse diagnostics so that your practice is tailored to your own body’s needs. Prescriptive breath work is an extremely rare and transformative tool for life.

Siobhan says:

“This is a beautiful science that has the ability to change your thoughts, emotions and metabolism and on a deep level, it lifts you up to a higher level and clears the mind allowing for healing to take place.”

Understanding the breath clearly and undiluted will bring structure to what can be an overwhelming world of different approaches. Following a lineage means it is trusted and evidenced over one hundred years of science. Just twenty minutes every day brings great change.

This class welcomes everyone, whether or not you already have an asana (yoga postures), pranayama or meditation practice. All levels are welcome, and soon understanding the breath will enhance your other yoga practices and allow them to deepen too.
