About Chelsea
During the first lockdown in 2020 Chelsea contracted Covid and subsequently Long Covid when she was right in the middle of her 200hr yoga teacher training here at MCY. Extreme fatigue meant that asanas were not part of her practice at the time, and breath work and meditation became her new focus.
As she completed her training and started to ease back into a yoga posture practice, she found much benefit in using props to support and ease postures. Chelsea also found that using essential oils alongside her yoga practice supported her emotionally, physically and mentally.
Chelsea now combines her twin passions of aromatherapy and supporting physical movement and emotional balance through yoga in her regular workshops.
She moved from Toronto, Canada to London, England in 1996 and began practicing yoga in her 20’s at a local church hall. She has practiced Vinyasa flow yoga regularly since then to find relief from a stressful job as well as to support and enrich two pregnancies.
By day, Chelsea is a primary teacher and shares yoga to support emotional and physical needs of children in after school yoga clubs and seasonal children’s yoga and crafts workshops. She champions the importance of teaching focus and concentration as well as tools to self-regulate emotions in school and has introduced yoga as part of the PE program as well as Mindfulness time in classes and annual Mental Health Week activities in her school.
