Wildsong Yoga Nidra: Winter with Lucie Potter

  • Merchant City Yoga 2nd Floor, 49 Virginia Street Glasgow, Scotland, G1 1TS United Kingdom (map)

Hunker down with Lucie for this truly special afternoon of nourishing practice and deep rest, refilling your energy banks and soothing your nervous system.

Winter is the season of the Water element, connected to feeling secure, refilling your batteries (kidney energy) and skeletal health. Practice will be standing qigong for bone, spine & adrenal health followed by two enriched rest yoga nidras nestled around spiced tea & delicious snacks.

Your first nidra will be crafted for its soothing, hypnotic qualities, immersed in the season of winter & water; the second will be a Himalayan nidra, a beautiful practice lasting around 45 minutes with singing bowls & other instruments.

Nidra can be a powerfully healing practice. Even if all we do is sleep, this incredible practice takes our brains through the series of brain states we experience in sleep in a comparatively short time. Each state has many benefits including releasing growth hormones, and boosting internal healing, wellbeing and mood.

DID YOU KNOW?
Winter focus: the skeleton
KNOWING IN OUR BONES
Bone is the deepest living tissue in the body. Our skeleton supports our organs, enables us to move and protects us. Bone marrow produces blood, responds to stress remodelling itself, supports our immune system. Our skeleton communicates with our organs and tissues via osteocalcin, for example, when our brain detects a threat, our skeleton initiates the Flight or Fight Response flooding osteocalcin into the bloodstream before adrenalin is released. Our skeleton is a living responsive integral part of us, enabling us to stay free from harm and escape from danger.

WHY PRACTICE NOW?
Winter conserves and rebuilds energy through rest and a slow flowing practice. Water is the most precious of the elements. Without water, nothing can grow. Nourishment is carried in water into our cells. Winter practice works with the bladder & kidney meridians that flow down the back and up the front of the body, releasing held stress & calming anxiety, helping us self regulate around fear and the need for safety. When we are in balance, we flow through life with courage and determination, building a good foundation for the year ahead.

Open to everyone, this session offers sanctuary in the midst of your busy lives. No yoga or nidra experience required.

About Lucie

Lucie is a Senior Teacher in Seasonal Yoga & Associate Facilitator of Total Yoga Nidra. She first encountered this incredible healing practice in 2011. However, it was her experience of Total Yoga Nidra with Uma, Nirlipta Dinsmore-Tuli and Ben Wolff in 2016 and subsequent training & work with them, that radically shifted the landscape of what yoga nidra can be. From something read from a book to a strong, informed, flexible practice of deep healing and connection, focused on the individual with safety and support at its heart.

Lucie co-facilitated the first Total Yoga Nidra Immersion with Nirlipta Tuli in Glasgow in February 2020 and continues her training with him in nidra & neuroscience. 2023 will see the first Wildsong Nidra immersions and training here in Scotland and she’s published on Insight Timer too.

Lucie's training and practice respects and draws on all traditions of yoga nidra. She shares nidra live, created in the moment, tailored for the group/individual, entwined in nature and the seasons. Nidra offers us the chance to come home to ourselves, to truly unite with our Self in beautifully simple and easy ways. ‘There is nothing to do and nowhere to be. It is time to come home.’
