The Bhagavad Gītā | Skill in Action
Practical teachings for living well from the Bhagavad Gita
Six hour course over three sessions
Sunday 18/25 September & 2 October (3-5pm)
The Bhagavad Gītā is a uniquely practical yoga text. Unlike the Sūtras or the Upaniṣads, the Gita assumes that we live in society and that life is complicated!
We are torn between our duties, our desires, our responsibilities to others and what we feel is right. This beautiful and rich text acknowledges the tribulations of embodied life. It offers us advice and practices to make sense of it all, to find peace and to work out the right thing to do, even in the most bamboozling situations.
Join Ema over three Sunday afternoons to explore the text - with discussion, practices, play, and a takeaway homework booklet with ideas for exploration - to continue your contemplation in your own time.
Session one: The War Within - we meet on the Kurukṣetra, the field of action, this very body, and explore the secrets and struggles of the human heart.
Session two: How does a Yogi speak, sit, walk? On karma, skillful action, and getting out of your own way.
Session three: The wheel of Dharma and Lokasaṅgraha - the path of the spiritual warrior, balancing acceptance with fighting against injustice.
