Sound Journey with Tony Young

  • Merchant City Yoga 2nd Floor, 49 Virginia Street Glasgow, Scotland, G1 1TS United Kingdom (map)

Join us for a relaxing journey through sound that will balance and restore, taking you on a journey to an inner world…

Using Gongs, Tibetan Bowls, Quartz Chakra Bowls, Flutes, Drums, Voice and Keyboard, Tony will lead you on a sonic journey through various soundscapes. The sounds themselves clear and restore the aura, and create healing and space in your mind, to reflect clearly on where you are and give you time to just be and relax in a safe, peaceful space.

Sound therapy has been known to help with a number of conditions including releasing physical and emotional blockages, helping digestions, sleep, relaxation, joint and muscular problems, releasing sinuses, and helping with general wellbeing.

The session will begin with some guided meditation and toning for a few minutes that requires no previous experience of working with sound, but is simply used to help the body into a state of awareful focus, relaxation and meditation.

You may choose to sit or lie down or a mixture of both during the sessions. Most people come for deep relaxation and like to lie down but you are free to do what works for you.

About Tony

Tony shares his passion and knowledge of the energetic / yogic body and sound on our yoga teacher training programme here at MCY.

He began playing guitar at age 6 and piano at 8. He started writing his own music at 12 and began classes in meditation at 17.

He got a scholarship to Oxford studying Biology, where he was also lucky enough to work as PA to Stephen Sondheim for a year on a Musical Theatre Course sponsored by Cameron Mackintosh! He then went on to study an MSc in Education to learn how to communicate these skills with the wider community.

He subsequently spent over 20 years on a spiritual journey, living and travelling through many spiritual traditions, learning meditation, yoga and various forms of massage and therapy.

Tony’s a teacher of meditation and mantras, as well as music (piano, singing, songwriting, beginner’s guitar); a therapist - sound therapy and massage therapy, a singer-songwriter, an astrologer and community worker.

In October 2022 he started a not for profit business called Good Vibrations Glasgow to work with marginalised individuals providing them with a creative outlet, a way to increase their skill-set and opportunities for personal growth, as well as enhancing their sense of confidence and well-being through music.

Tony shares his wonderful array of tools with everyone he meets who are willing to learn and participate in the journey.
