Rest is not a reward. We don’t have to earn it. It’s always within our reach but often we don’t prioritise it as much as we maybe could.
The benefits of deep rest and restorative yoga are many. Rest can help manage stress, improve sleep, boost your mood and creativity, encourage self-awareness and clarity of thought, balance your emotions, regulate your energy and more.
But the ability to rest is a skill. Like anything we want to get better at, we have to practise it. That’s what this class is all about. No fancy poses, no fancy words - just space, time and the opportunity to practise rest.
In restorative yoga we’re quite particular about how we facilitate rest. First you’ll use lots of props to fully support your body and find comfort. From this place we wait, slow down and spend time in the poses, letting rest come to us.
A description and demonstration of each pose will be shared. Additional support and assistance to set up in the poses will be offered to all who participate in the studio. The difference between just ok and complete comfort can be a well-placed blanket.
In the studio we have plenty of props you can use. A list of required props will be emailed to you before class so you can gather your props together at home or bring them to the studio if you prefer to use your own.
