Hands-on assists can be an incredibly potent tool for helping your students find better balance, alignment, space and ease.
During this one day workshop we’ll look at the “how to” of hands-on assists in a variety of different groups of postures, working from straightforward to more complex postures. You’ll practise them on each other, exploring how to tailor your assists to each individual and assessing what serves them best in that moment.
My focus for hands on assists is on supporting and helping the student find their own way. Providing them with stability and helping them build strength as well as flexibility is much more helpful for them and their practice in the long term.
To give your hands on assists context within your yoga practice and teaching we’ll also take the time to consider the “why?” and the “how?”.
During this workshop we’ll look at how to use practical hands on assists effectively and help you:
Learn the concepts rather than “one size fits all’” adjustments;
Practice hands on assists in a selection of postures to help you build your confidence and experience;
Explore how to help your students find their own way rather than simply receiving your assists;
Figure out the nitty gritty of where to stand and what to do;
Respond to the individual needs of each student.
If you’re new to teaching and hands on assists this workshop will introduce you to foundational concepts and practical assists which you can confidently take back into your classes. If you have more experience you’ll have the valuable opportunity to look again at what you’re doing and why, refine your approach and discover new ways to support and assist your students.
I know in my own practice and learning hands on assists given with care and respect have been really helpful and I want to help you develop the skills and confidence to offer the same level of help and support in your teaching.
Join me to learn how to enhance your teaching and your students’ experience.
