Yin yoga is a slow and meditative practice, both gentle and profound. In some ways it may seem simpler than more dynamic styles of postural yoga, but like all simple things it belies a subtlety and deep intricacy. As we work with the body in non-forceful ways, using yielding rather than effort, we can dive deep into our minds and bodies and explore new ways of being.
Rest is essential. Rest gives us space to be. It allows us to resist all that which confines us and takes us away from who we really are. It lets us feel our way into ways of being that are truly nourishing and generative.
“The softest thing in the world
Rides roughshod over the strongest.
No-thing enters no-space.
This teaches me the benefit of no-action.”
Tao te Ching, 43
What does this training offer?
Explore traditional and modern approaches to yin yoga through inclusive and accessible postural practice grounded in biomechanics and subtle anatomy, meditative somatic awareness and subtle approaches to breath and energy.
Learn how to guide practice by holding space for personal experience and support varied human bodies and minds through adaptations, assists, and ‘yin language’.
Dive into subtle anatomy from yogic and TCM perspectives, working with energy, awareness, and breath.
What is special about this training?
Ema’s practice takes a trauma-informed and inclusive approach that is immersed in a meditative and philosophical mood, to cultivate a deep and well-rounded practice that is grounded in the personal, real-life experience of body and mind.
Ema’s approach to yin seeks to cultivate subtle awareness and the ability to soften into our experience with tenderness, care and curiosity, to dive deep into the layers of body and mind and connect to corners that otherwise go unseen.
