Wednesday 19th April - Sunday 23rd April 2023
9.30am-12.30pm / 2-5pm
Pranayama | Therapeutic Yoga Asana | Chanting | Adhyatam (spiritual Yoga) | Hatha Pradikipa
When you meet Sudhir, you will know he has lived and breathed yoga his whole life. He is a rare example of a humble, yet energetic and enthusiastic teacher with a mastery and knowledge of yoga. In his sessions you will explore the yoga and ayurveda tradition but also the scientific reasoning behind why you do yogic practices.
Over these five days of daily practice you'll go through a process of exploring traditional Pranayama practice deeply. In the morning sessions you’ll have your pulse check as per Ayurveda to check the condition of your constitution, explore therapeutic hatha yoga asana, pranayama (breathing) practices and meditation/relaxation practices. Sudhir will share techniques and tools that are specifically relevant to you and what’s going on in your own system.
Each afternoon will be a different yoga talk with Q&A given by Sudhir. Topics will include what pranayama is, why it is appropriate as "an ancient practice in modern living”, how to safely approach each practice with skill, and Ayurveda and its need and purpose in the western world. All topics will be inspired by yoga's ancient wisdom covering the Bhagavad Ghita, The Hatha Pradipika, Patanjali's Sutras and the Upanishads.
What you can expect:
Personalised attention and observation in your pranayama practice
Personal pulse diagnosis over all 5 days for all students
Preparatory exercises
Be given your own personalised programme of practise
Therapeutic Hatha Yoga Asana practice daily
Mantra and chanting sessions each morning
Patanjali’s Sutras with relevance to the breath
Hatha Pradikipa with relevance to the breath
Time to establish relationship with Sudhir and a deeper relationship with self
Pranayama is very much about cultivating the 4th limb of yoga: this gives you a deeper relationship to who you are and where you are going in life. When guidance specific to you is aligned with your needs, growth and change naturally follow. Having a teacher like Sudhir teaching a 5 day intensive sets you up perfectly to be able to continue with clarity in your own daily routine. This is why we ask you to commit to the discipline of five days of practice.
The only requirement is being open minded and receptive to learning. Knowing the practices and techniques of traditional pranayama or hatha yoga is not required.
You can attend the five morning sessions for pranayama, therapeutic hatha yoga & mantra or for the five full days. No drop ins.
PS Our own Siobhan Fitzgerald will be assisting this 5 day intensive making sure everyone gets the right attention. Siobhan first practised with Sudhir’s father in 2005 at Yoga Thailand and this experience transformed her thinking, her energy and her life and as a result she has practised and studied with him and his son Sudhir ever since.

Sri Sudhir Tiwari is the eldest son of the beloved and highly respected teacher Sri O.P. Tiwari. Sudhir was brought up at Kaivalyadham Yoga Institute, in Lonavala, India, amidst rich traditional yogic heritage of Swami Madhavdasji Maharaj, Swami Kuvalyanandaji and Swami Digambarji.
Swami Digambarji initiated Sudhir in 1981 and accepted him as a disciple. Sudhir received his primary and advanced yogic and ayurvedic training from Swami Digambarji which included the study of traditional texts, mantra yoga, fire ceremony, pranayama and various aspects of adhyatm (spiritual) yoga. Sudhir also learned pranayama and hathapradipika from his father.
Since early 2012, at his father’s request, Sudhir has traveled around the world conducting workshops in the theory and practice of yoga (asana, pranayama, meditation, chanting) and ayurveda, and spreading humbly the fundamentals of undiluted yoga.
Sudhir now lives in Toronto, Canada, with his wife and two children.
