Christmas Yoga Flow with Joan Stuart

Do you remember MCY's got talent?

Towards the end of the summer this year some of our amazing teacher training graduates recorded On Demand classes for us to share with you.

I’m so proud of all of our graduates and this gave me the chance to shamelessly celebrate our teacher training programme and the teachers we’ve trained. It also allowed me to offer more free resources to help and support anyone who needed us during this tough year.

When Joan got in touch she titled her email "better late than never". She might be late to the party but it's a Christmas party so we'll forgive her ;)

I met Joan back in the “old days” when I used to teach yoga in gyms. I was delighted that she kept up her yoga practice and when she contacted me to apply to train as a teacher with us there was only one answer I could give!

She's recorded a special Christmas Yoga Flow for you. This class is free On Demand so you can practise it any time that's good for you.

Christmas Yoga Flow with Joan Stuart

Take a little break from eating mince pies, wrapping Christmas pressies and doing the Christmas shopping with this lovely Christmas Yoga Flow. Enjoy a little me time and reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the season as you move, breathe and relax.

If you’d like to practise along to music, Joan has shared a ‘not too cheesy’ festive playlist HERE

A little more about Joan…

Joan was first introduced to yoga on holiday in Turkey. Although on returning to Scotland the charm of early morning yoga on a beautiful beach was not so as readily available, she continued with her yoga practice. It was through attending classes with inspiring and motivational teachers, and experiencing yoga’s transforming qualities for herself, that her passion for yoga deepened and she went on to complete the 200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training Programme with Merchant City Yoga in Glasgow in 2018.

Although she started the programme with the aim of deepening her own understanding and practice, it was during the training that she realised that she wanted to share the many benefits that yoga brings to others by putting her teaching into practice. Since qualifying she has gained experience in teaching various styles yoga in gyms, corporate organisations and in her local hall. She also completed a further 100 hours of study in Yin Yoga and Yoga Anatomy.

Joan’s passion (apart from yoga) is supporting animal charities and she uses her yoga to do this, running a Big Bear stretch in 2019 for Animals Asia and two smaller events for animal charities during 2020.

Like many teachers she blends her knowledge and experience of all types of yoga to create a classes suitable for everyone. Joan works to ensure classes are creative, fun, improve strength, flexibility and calm the mind. More details of Joan’s classes and charity work can be found HERE.
