The Ups & Downs of Yoga Practice - Ema Čulík, ‘The Chai Sessions’

In this session I'm chatting with Ema, who teaches our Monday evening Vinyasa Yoga class and seasonal Yin-Vin specials here at the studio. We sat down with a cuppa in hand to chat about the ebb and flow of practice and yoga, the ups and downs of it all.

Over the past year we've all been in a state of flux. There's been a lot of change. Maybe you started practising yoga at home for the first time, with or without a teacher. Perhaps you've found your practice has came on leaps and bounds. Or maybe it's all been a bit of a struggle and you feel you've gone backwards.

Ema was 7 months pregnant when the country went into lockdown and had a beautiful baby girl just short of a year ago. She's a really dedicated yoga practitioner, student and teacher. So having come from a strong practice, through pregnancy, to everything that followed after the arrival of her little one, whilst not really knowing what's coming up next during these uncertain and challenging times… I couldn't think of anyone better than Ema to chat to about change and the ups and downs of yoga practice.

We chat about how precious and beneficial practice time is whether it's 5 minutes or 75 minutes, doing different things on different days, defining ourselves by the postures we can do, accepting uncertainty, asking ourselves what we're really practising for, the lessons we learn through yoga and the light it shines on our life on and off our yoga mats.

"Can we be bendy enough to bend to the situation?"

Pop the kettle on, get yourself comfy and come and join us...
