MCY's Got Talent - 15 Minute Yoga Practice for busy days with Clare Skelton

Yoga’s a practical tool intended to support us as we live our lives. While it’s tempting to think we don’t have time, or it’s not a proper practice unless it’s lengthy and blissful, it’s often our short practices shoe-horned between other commitments that bring us the richest gifts!

Clare’s life has certainly changed in the past year and I’m so proud of how she’s continually working to adapt to those changes and still have her yoga practice, no matter what it looks like, support and nurture her.

She says…

“I discovered yoga when I moved to London in my early twenties and a friend offered free classes in return for cleaning the studio after class. In between work, exploring a new city, travelling, meeting friends and going out, this regular fixture in my week quickly became something so special, carved in my diary as a chance to to pause and find stillness in the busy-ness of life. Over the last decade, yoga has been a rock I’ve returned to, regardless of where I’ve been living and whatever has been going on in life.

When I decided to take a step further on my yoga journey and train as a teacher, doing so with Merchant City was a no-brainer. Not only would the course offer a rich curriculum, taught by specialist teachers, and give me the skills to feel confident to share yoga with others, it would deepen my own practice and bring me into a community of new friends to share this journey with. I still don’t quite have the words to properly and fully capture how important and valuable the training with MCY has been to me. 

Since graduating, my life has changed as I find my feet as a new mum in a pandemic, and everything I thought I knew about myself and my own practice has shifted with it. I’m trying, where I can, to accept that my life, my body, my time to practice looks different to how it did before - and that’s ok. I’m learning that our yoga practice is of even more importance at the times we feel we have less opportunity for it. I hope that if you’re someone spinning lots of plates at the moment and don’t feel you have time to put them down, this short practice will help you find a little stillness in your day.”
